Local farms

We’ve always sourced directly from local farmers: to ensure the freshest, most unique flowers for your event, to reduce our carbon footprint, and to support small farmers who steward the earth sustainably.

There are vast inequities in land ownership and lack of representation in our farming population. Farming is one of the whitest professions, due to the painful legacies of enslavement and institutional racism. We’re committed to supporting the growth of a truly diverse farming population.

To support this critical piece of sustainability for all, 15% of profits from seasonal flower project are dedicated annually towards BIPOC-led organizations working for land justice.

Now in our sixth growing season, our main production farm and our design studio is situated in a 5.5 acre, certified-organic field. Lovingly named “the lower meadow,” this field is situated at the bottom of a wooded hill, surrounded by the forests abutting the beautiful Connecticut River. In 2023, we will produce our summer annuals on an auxiliary 1.5-acre, certified-organic field, as we are dedicated to low-till farming and crop rotation, giving the earth much-needed time to rest. We rent both parcels, which are located on unceded Nipmuc and Pocumtuc land.

Christina Natale Little Hen Farm North Haven, CT

Little Hen Farm

Little Hen Farm is a small flower farm located on 4 beautiful acres in North Haven, CT. We specialize in seasonal, specialty cut flowers for special orders, DIY buckets, wholesale, and flowering the New Haven area. While we only cultivate a small portion of these acres, we do so intensively. Along with flowers we have a small flock of chickens and a large garden where we grow food for our family and friends. We grow as naturally as possible, without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides, and with minimal tillage. Our flower arrangements are whimsical and have a wild garden style. We believe that local is always better.
