Not all NYC flower subscriptions
are created equal
Most flower subscriptions ship from the Netherlands or South America. Ours start and end in New York — every single week.
-
Grown within 200 miles of NYC
Every stem sourced from small, mostly woman- and queer-owned farms in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut — cut that week, not stored in overseas cold chain.
-
Single-variety, no filler
Pure single-variety bunches — one flower in its full seasonal glory. No spray-painted carnations, no cheap filler greenery. 10–20 stems of something extraordinary.
-
A newsletter with every delivery
Subscriber-only email timed to each bouquet: specific care tips for your exact variety, vase life guidance, and the story of the farm it came from.
-
15% of profits to BIPOC farmers
Donated to land-back initiatives led by Black, Indigenous, and Latino farming groups in our region. Your subscription diversifies who grows New York's food and flowers.
-
Free neighborhood pickup across NYC
Pick up at a local small business near you across Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens — every Wednesday. Or add direct home delivery for $18/week.
-
Grown in South America or Europe
80% of flowers sold in the US are imported. Most subscription services use the same overseas supply chains as grocery stores — just with better packaging.
-
Mixed arrangements with filler
Generic mixed bouquets designed to photograph well, typically padded with filler greens and standard roses you've seen a hundred times.
-
No educational content
A box arrives. That's it. No care tips, no farm stories, no connection to where the flowers came from.
-
No social mission
Revenue stays within the supply chain. No reinvestment in local agriculture, no support for land access or diversity in farming.
-
Delivery only, no local pickup
National services ship by mail. No option to pick up from a neighborhood bookshop or bakery you already love.
Order by Thursday midnight — your first bouquet arrives the following Wednesday.
How the NYC flower
subscription works
Choose weekly or biweekly delivery. Select a free pickup location near you across NYC — or add direct home delivery for $18/week. Order by Thursday midnight for your first Wednesday delivery.
Your bouquet is sourced from a local farm within 200 miles of NYC the same week it ships. Never cold-stored, never flown from overseas — cut at peak and on their way to you.
10–20 stems of a single variety, wrapped in recycled compostable paper. Pure color, pure vibrancy — one flower doing exactly what it was grown to do.
Going on vacation? Skip a week from your account. Need a break? Pause for up to 3 months. Cancel anytime after your 4th delivery. No phone calls, no penalties.
Why local
matters
When Molly Culver founded Molly Oliver Flowers in Brooklyn in 2011, she had one conviction: that New York City should be able to buy flowers actually grown in and around New York. A city surrounded by some of the country's best small-scale flower farms — and yet 80% of flowers sold here come from overseas.
The Seasonal Flower Project subscription launched in May 2020 to support regional farms when 40+ events were cancelled. It grew that conviction into a weekly ritual for thousands of New Yorkers. Every bouquet comes from a farm within 200 miles. Most are woman- or queer-owned. All are pesticide-free.
The result: varieties you have never seen at a florist or a bodega. Flowers with names and stories. Blooms at their actual peak — not at the end of a two-week cold-chain journey from South America.
"I signed up during the summer of 2020. Seeing how the local flowers change over the course of the year is like watching nature's fireworks show."
— Subscriber since Summer 2020
In season February through November
Bouquets evolve week to week — sometimes variety, sometimes color, sometimes both. You'll meet flowers you've never seen at a grocery store or a bodega.
