Elle Hebert

Pronouns: She/Her

Roles: Floral Design Intern 2025

3 words to describe your personal style: Casual, cool, and nostalgic.

What drew you to work with flowers: Flowers have always been a love of mine! I was excited for the opportunity to learn more about them through working and creating with them.

Flowers that you're drawn to this year: I currently enjoy seeing all the anemones, but tulips have always been a constant favorite. My first tattoo was a tulip dedicated to my mom :)

What is something you enjoy about your role as Floral Design Intern? How much I'm learning! Everytime I work, either at the studio or at an event, I get to work with and learn about a new flower. There is so much unique personality to each one!

What is something you wish more people knew or understood about flowers: Flowers are a visual representation of time and feelings. The act of gifting and receiving flowers is always so meaningful. I also think there’s something special about how temporary they are, it’s a reminder to notice and appreciate the beauty around you.

Time off go-to's: Any free time I have, I love to spend painting—mostly flowers. I find it so therapeutic to paint the things I love. When I’m not painting, I enjoy going with my friends to my favorite bar, The Flower Shop on Eldridge Street.

Kelly Mill sustainable breakdown lead molly oliver flowers

Kelly Mill

Name + pronunciation: Kelly + kel-ee

Pronouns: she/her

Roles: Sustainable Breakdown Lead

What drew you to work with flowers: So much! But initially? I was inspired by the historical, political slogan "bread and roses" and the seasonality of the work (thinking of Lispector: "My God, I just remembered that we die. But--but me too?! Don't forget that for now, it's strawberry season").

Flowers that you're drawn to this year: Nigella! The fact that they are called love-in-a-mist and devil in the bush speaks to their range and nuance.

Thanh Bui Subscription + Retail Sales Manager / Assistant Designer on events at Molly Oliver Flowers

Thanh Bui

Name + pronunciation: Thanh + I've started going by my vietnamese name 3 years ago and still haven't found the shortcut relative pronunciation to type out! You'll just have to meet me in person to find out!

Pronouns: They/them

Roles: Subscription + Retail Sales Manager / Assistant Designer on events

What drew you to work with flowers: I threw myself into it as a job more out of indecision for change and a reaction to depression than curiosity. I had very little interest in flowers before I started working. I quickly found myself enamoured and fascinated with the world building and seduction of it all- from the crack of sweet pea vine to the monolithic sculptural islands created. Noticing and looking demanded presence and attention: curvatures, silhouettes, tones in shadows and shifting hues, sun patched light all layered together. appreciating and seeing felt like a worthwhile way to spend my time. It was a pure visual feast: and this is all before the poetics and mood and narratives hit.

Flowers that you're drawn to this year: Flower of the year feels too definitive!!  Flower of the week for me is passion flower vine though. I got to work with miniature ones; precious gems!

What is something you enjoy about your role as Subscription Manager and/or Assistant Designer at MollyOliver?: The personal notes always take me out- the gesture and folly of it all never gets old. I usually work in events where the pace and production is so grand and at times nauseating. Working with a select variety week to week reorients my sense of time and gives me a wider appreciation of all the work that goes into flowers before it hits 28th street.

What is something you wish more people knew or understood about flowers: There's endless combinations of textures and colors to play with and discover. Each flower's shape, color, and texture can be used to amplify or harmonize with another!

3 words to describe your personal style: Badu / Faggot / Dada /

Time off go-to's: I'm right by Herbert von King. Usually end up in Chinatown, Riis in the summer, more dance floors. Just got a car- taking day-trip recommendations!

Current listen, read or podcast: i just bought Like Love by Maggie Nelson and Emperor of Gladness- but haven't dived in yet. Magdalena Bay, Blood Orange, and Utada Hikaru are making the rounds.

Tina Sieben sustainable breakdown lead molly oliver flowers

Tina Sieben

Name + pronunciation: Tina Sieben (tee-na see-ben)

Pronouns: they/them

Roles: Sustainable Breakdown Lead

What drew you to work with flowers: The physicality of the flower breakdowns really drew me to the work at first because I love working with my hands. People really don’t realize how much work breakdowns, and working with flowers in general, takes! It’s a lot of heavy lifting and moving, which always leaves me feeling tired but satisfied in a way I love.

Flowers that you're drawn to this year: Purple and yellow ranunculus have really been catching my eye this year because they’re such unique colors on a flower you might see a lot!

What is something you enjoy about your role as Breakdown Lead at Molly Oliver?: I really enjoy getting to cross paths with everyone involved- the couple, the guests, venue staff- at the end of the night when the event is wrapping up and everyone is just enjoying the beautiful night. People gush about the flowers, everyone is having fun, and it’s just a really fun energy to be around. What is something you wish more people knew or understood about flowers and/or waste management: You can probably compost the flowers sitting in your vase right now, lots of neighborhoods have little compost bins you can drop things off at and it feels great to return them to the earth :)

Roles:
Subscription Production Manager / Event Breakdown Captain / Proposal Writer

3 words to describe your personal style:
Cowboy / metalhead boyfriend / witch

What drew you to flowers: Favorite flower so far this year: Ranunculus, especially the unexpected freaks! Anytime we get a monstrous, fasciated one I’m in love! I also adore the cabbage ruffle of a “pon pon” variety and the spidery elegance of a butterfly ranunculus.

What you're enjoying about your job:
I thrive on the combo of the expected rhythm of a Tuesday SFP bouquet making day + the different type of prep that happens with having new varieties every week. I’m learning so much about the needs of certain flowers + what makes them happiest.

Offsite life: My other life is as an artist who teaches printmaking so I’m always drawn to the surprising + specific tips + tricks of a craft. My artistic practice is concerned with our current ecological fate, so the sustainability model MOF follows really hits home + makes me proud of the work we're doing.
